Having joined HMS Valuation Partners in 1999, Donald Crawford (“Don”) is responsible for driving research efforts to acquire national market information in the areas of: physician compensation, physician office billing, and other areas in which hospitals contract with physicians or physician-owned businesses to support client needs for Fair Market Valuation opinions on hospital/physician contractual agreements. Don has also provided financial/analytical/research support for numerous physician practice valuations. As HMS Valuation Partners Information Technology Chief, Don oversees all technology endeavors within the firm and participates in the company’s strategic planning initiatives.

Experienced

Having earned his MBA from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of New Orleans, Don began his career in 1988 managing the operations of an independent retail pharmacy. Afterwards, he managed the Finance and Operations functions of a technology company that experienced a 300% revenue growth over a three-year period. Moving on to Entergy Services, Inc., a Fortune 500 energy company, Don worked as an IT Business Analyst and a Financial Analyst. In this role, he developed several standardized operational procedures that simultaneously increased efficiencies and produced recognizable cost savings. Continuing along on his career journey, Don joined Utility Finance as a Financial Analyst working for the Vice President and developed a 5-year revenue forecast model for two of the company’s six legal entities. Don’s background as a business and financial analyst, combined with his interest in the healthcare industry, led to him finding his next career move with HMS Valuation Partners.

Value Outside Work

My favorite things to do as a kid was…
Riding my bike anywhere and everywhere, jumping over and off many obstacles. Luckily, no broken bones, but lots of scrapes and bruises.

As a big kid, I like to …
Driving backroads and hiking, because I enjoy viewing the vistas of nature. I also enjoy the arts (museums / theater) as well as reading and working on cars.

One of things I hope to do…
My stretch goal is to compete in American Ninja Warrior!
