Kevin Smith serves as Managing Director – Real Estate at HMS Valuation Partners, bringing more than 37 years of experience as an appraiser and over 1,000 completed appraisal assignments. He provides real estate valuation services for healthcare clients, with a focus on fair market value opinions to support compliance with Stark Law and other regulatory requirements.
His expertise includes real estate appraisals, rental rate analyses, feasibility studies, due diligence, consulting, and appraisal reviews. Kevin has extensive experience valuing a wide range of healthcare properties, including medical offices, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation facilities, outpatient clinics, laboratories, diagnostic centers, and land. He leads a team responsible for site visits, property inspections, and the collection and analysis of market data to support well-developed valuation conclusions.
Experienced
Kevin graduated from Texas State University in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, concentrating in Finance. He began appraising residential properties that same year and earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1994.
Kevin has provided appraisal services for national and regional healthcare systems, including Triad Hospitals, Community Health Systems, Health Management Associates, AMSURG Surgery Centers, LifePoint Hospitals, LHP Hospital Group, and DSI Renal.

Anything outdoors – football, basketball, soccer, baseball, mini bikes, go-karts, fishing, swimming, camping, and exploring on my bike.

Ride my Harley, dine out, attend concerts, go four-wheeling, fish, snow ski, attend sporting events, and spend time with family.
